Vethu Vettu is produced by S Kumar, Saravana Manickam, Moorthy, Ramasamy and Lakshmanan. The film is about a youngster stars Harish as hero Vizha fame Malavika Menon as heroine. The cast also includes Ilavarasu, Ganja Karuppu, Aadukalam Naren, Sri Ranjani, and Black Pandi among others. Taj Noor has scored the music.
Vethu Vettu is the story of a young man who fools around his friends with white lies. He once lies about a girl which the girl uses against him when she is in trouble. Harish plays a jolly go character and keeps telling his friends many lies to maintain a heroic image. In their village, plans for tiruvila happen and his friends ask him if he knows Malavika. Harish, as usual says he is very close with her and to prove it he goes to the farm when she is taking bath.
Unfortunately, the water pump gets repaired and he eventually fixes it. The friends meanwhile think that they are in a relationship. He then forgets it and moves on in life. Few days later, Malavika gets pregnant and claims that Harish is her lover. Innocent Harish has no choice as Malavika’s friends also saw them in the farm.
As per the rule of their village, Naren, who is the village head gets them married. Harish is unhappy and tries to kill her. However, Malavika later confesses to him the reason behind all this. After knowing what happened, did Harish forgive her? What is the story behind her decision to claim him as her lover? How do the families react? What happened to the plans he had made to kill her? All the answers are there on screen.
